What is Alpha?
I didn’t know. The Alpha series was being promoted in our church and I was curious. Since it was being promoted through church I knew it had to be something faith based.
I was a little leery at first but wanted to see what this was about. I recognized very quickly that this was to strengthen the belief in a higher presence. From the first session I knew I was going to see this through to the end.
Viewing the videos had a drawing effect on me. I was able to connect immediately with the message. One of the videos asked the question, “Has God ever hugged you?” I knew the answer right away. Through the discussions after the videos each week, I realized that I too was looking for answers to many of life’s questions. The people involved were caring and insightful. They were always constructive and supportive, yet never condescending. I found a connection with people I had seen in church yet didn’t really know. We shared experiences and I now believe that a belief in a higher faith usually comes to you after a traumatic event has shaped your life.
The Alpha series will bring a consciousness that all of us need but few of us recognize. I encourage everyone to set aside the time to be a part of the Alpha series. The time you spend will be repaid tenfold and you will meet people just like yourselves that understand that all of us need to be a part of something that is larger that each of us are individually.
